What did I think of the finale of Chuck? In a word…Pathetic! For a while there I thought for sure one of the producers allowed his grade school nephew to write the script. What else could explain it?

I didn’t recognize the show. It wasn’t the same Chuck I had been devoted to for the previous four years. The whole 5th season was a slow assault, finished off by a one-two knock out punch in the heart called the finale.

It has taken me several days to recover from the deep sense of loss I felt, along with a sense of betrayal, as I suspect many other devoted fans may still be feeling. What I watched was a series of 90 second story lines that flew off into bizarre – unrelated to the previous story lines – directions, interspersed between what must have been a record number of commercial breaks. In fact, the whole 5th season just doesn’t match the quality of the previous four seasons and I seriously doubt I will purchase the season 5 DVDs. It would be too painful to watch them again.

I have to wonder now if the creators of Chuck were up to par with their creation. Chuck was above average, out of the ordinary with an excellent ensemble cast who breathed life and much humor into the characters and stories. I can’t even imagine how the cast must have felt having to act out what ended up basically trashing the show. How very sad.

Now that I think of it, Chuck was the only reason I watched NBC. Now there will be no reason. And it just occurred to me that way, way before most of the fans of Chuck were even born it was NBC that cancelled the original Star Trek series. I see the executive levels remain clueless.

Watching the finale of Chuck was clearly receiving the bum’s rush from the writers and producers. This I promise: I will NEVER watch anything written or produced by these people ever again. I’ve seen what we can expect from them, so I won’t bother. There is more than enough to be upset about in today’s world so we don’t need this sort of bait and switch on a program we so looked forward to watching, with characters we loved and story lines that revitalized almost forgotten values and touched the heart.

The writers and producers of Chuck, along with NBC have proven, yet again, that there is very little reason to turn on the television these days. They have also proven, yet again, that they have no clue what quality programming is or what the viewing public genuinely wants. So be it. I will be “satisfied” with ending Chuck at the 4th season, erasing the 5th season – and especially the finale – from my mind and heart, and never watching NBC again.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found
a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her
ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside
and it pinched her ear. She never wants
to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
